Preparing our next census to meet the changing needs of Ireland

Census Pilot Survey

Census Pilot Survey forms were delivered to 15,000 homes in selected areas across Ireland before Census Pilot Survey date, September 23rd 2018. The Survey tested new and updated questions, as well as new processes, to prepare us for the next full census which will take place in 2021.

Thank you for completing your form as this is invaluable to shaping the next census and resulting statistics.

On behalf of the CSO, we would like to say a big thank you to all who returned their completed forms. We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of the field staff and thank them. This is of great help to us in our preparation to make Census 2021 produce the statistics that work for all of us. A report will be published on the results of the Census Pilot Survey in 2019 and will be available on the website.
