Did you know that the last Census Pilot Survey form took place in 2009? New topics in the 2011 census as a result included a foreign language question, general health and field of study. In 2018, there is a feedback form provided with the Census Pilot Survey form (in areas participating) so that you can tell us what you thought of the questions and the form in general. If you didn't get one, there is a link to the online version on the homepage of this website or ask your enumerator to provide a paper form. We would like to know your views.

Census Pilot Survey website is published today

25 July 2018

The Census Pilot Survey website has just been published and more content will be added over the coming weeks. The Census Pilot Survey will take place on the 23rd of September. The Survey is a small scale census used to test new and updated questions for the 2021 census.

What is the Census Pilot Survey?

25 July 2018

The Census Pilot Survey is essentially a small scale census, carried out in the same way as a full census, only with a limited (15,000) number of households. In the same way as Census 2016, enumerators will call on doors in the areas taking part and forms will be delivered and collected between late August and the end of September. The completed forms will be processed and the information (purely statistical) will give us a good understanding of how new and updated test questions worked. We will use this knowledge to prepare the Census 2021 census form.
